Welcome to my World .....

I have always loved reading other people's blogs and seeing all the wonderful talent there is around and have toyed with the idea of starting a blog of my own, but up till now have never done anything about it.  I can't keep up-to-date with all the blogs that I enjoy reading now and wonder whether I would even have the time to keep one of my own up-to-date and, even more importantly, wonder if anyone would ever be remotely interested in anything I have to say!  However, I'll never know the answers if I don't give it a go, so here I am ....

Knitting is what I do most these days, but I also enjoy crocheting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, card making, embroidery, drawing, painting, cooking, gardening, reading, music etc etc etc.  The trouble is, there aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I would like to do and working four part-days a week doesn't help either.  I also have a few health problems, with fatigue being my major concern at the moment and it is very frustrating, to say the least, when I fall asleep and wake up, often with stitches slipped from my knitting needles (not such a big problem when I crochet!), or my nose in my cup of coffee or bowl of cereal (I kid you not!) .....

Of course, my family is very important to me and I don't see nearly enough of them as I would like.  Having grandchildren is wonderful and it is so different being a grandparent to being a parent ...... I don't know how to explain it, but those of you who are grandparents will know what I mean.   I will, no doubt, introduce my family as I continue with this blog, but I can't let this opportunity pass without welcoming my newest grandson, born on Christmas Day (2011), at a whopping 10lb 4oz!!  For 33 years I have held the family birthweight record of 10lb for my first baby, also a son, but my daughter now has the honour of holding the record ..... and we certainly hope no-one breaks it any time soon as, even with a caesarean, it's no fun giving birth to a 10lb+ baby!  What is bizarre, however, is that no matter what size our babies are, once that baby is in our arms, most of us forget all the pain and drama we went through to bring him/her into the world ...... (and it doesn't stop us from swapping stories with one another about what we went through!)

I do have a website (which is in need of being updated right now) where I sell some of my baby handknits, so if you want to check it out, just go to http://www.butterflybabywearboutique.com/ .  Visitors are always welcome!
